SUSAN MCCADAM HOFFMAN
Although most of the classes I now teach are for adults, I equally enjoy working with children. I have presented my work involving mindfulness in schools at the Annual Conference of the Massachusetts Association of 766 Approved Private Schools and the University of Vermont College of Medicine. My most recent collaboration involved live instruction from my Portland home studio to middle school students in Burlington, VT using telepresence. One of my more poignant opportunities was teaching yoga to elementary aged boys who struggle with emotional disturbance disability and seeing them use techniques for self-regulation instead of acting out. And with equal measure of humility and hope, I continue to serve our community of youth as a volunteer facilitator in the Multicultural Program run by the Center for Grieving Children in Portland.
